The Cello
I record on a 120-year-old Boston-built cello, selected for its rich tone, depth, and expressive character. This instrument has a naturally smooth, refined voice that comes from decades of wood aging, vibration, and careful playing. The spruce and maple have opened over time, allowing the instrument to respond effortlessly and produce a tone that feels warm, round, and continuous rather than sharp or forced. Notes bloom gently, harmonics rise easily, and the sound carries a natural depth and balance that sits beautifully under the bow, in a room, or on a recording.

Sonic Mastery
The cello is an incredibly versatile instrument. Recording it is just as varied. I record using specialized techniques to capture a variety of sonic approaches, from direct and focused to wide and with depth. My many years of experience engineering the recording of my cello has given me the ability to provide Hi-Fidelity audio files that need little to no refinement after being added to your project.
